...Is there REALLY any such thing, though? Well, before we were through with these, I sorta thought there might be. We were busy for hours! Shocked

Those tom bushes are really straining under the weight of the fruits. Some branches have bent double and need support. Picking did help, but there are so many more to come. I warned my bride that there would be when she decided to do only toms this year in the greenhouse.
Here is the most recent pics of the greenhouse contents--Legends to the left, and Ferlines to the right:

This is what we had to process:

These are what we needed to get the job done:

First we cut and boiled the toms:

Then we ground them through the passe-vite:

Then you get the pure, seedless stuff which you let some of the water boil out of to make a concentrate--see the little red 'ring around the pan' just above the juice level.

The finished product:

As you can see, we didn't even use all of the toms. We left some to eat.

Wow and Wow again. Such a harvest!!! And that isn't even all of them.
That is so what I want next year. I want jars and jars of tom sauce in the pantry.

Here, here, and i am with you on that! Man i could have a field day with all those toms. I would be so happy just cooking away and making up recipes as i went along....

That is one heck of an awesome harvest of toms. And the finished product looks just as nice. There is so, so much you can do with tom puree. Good goin you two!!!

Triple WOW, those toms look great. Mine are just starting to turn their color-can't wait, I'm so hungry for tomatoes. Though this year I won't have any little cherry toms, I'm so bummed-I love those ones. We're out of all our canned toms from last year.
Too bad we can't reach thru the comp., I'd ask if we could get a handful for dinner. Looks like you'll be canning for a little while yet. Your harvest looks wonderful.

Too many tomatoes!)

I wish I had that problem Sjoerd! We have had such wet and dreary weather that my tomatoes are few and they are still green. Yours are making my mouth water!

I really appreciate all your nice words about the harvest and canning. it was a big, big job...and there is so much more yet to do. I am truthful when I say that after the harvest, I could barely notice any fruits missing--this makes me a little edgy. I really am not going to have enough jars this year...I just KNOW it. Sad

PETUNIA--I am really sorry to hear about your cherry toms. If you could get here I'd be giving you a grocery bag of toms, not a handfull. Seriously.
G'MAMA-- I always take time off at this time of year specifically to do the harvesting and processing. It's always quite a big operation.
DROOPY-- Of course you can pinch the "Splook Pic".
I'm not going to have enough jars. Not by far.
GG-- Yes they sure do make nice addiions to the pantry. We use the concentrate in so many ways during the course of the year.

Once again, thank you one and all for your encouraging compliments. I honestly do wish that I could give you ALL some of the harvest.
This over-abundance is a problem every year, but because we have some extra plants this year, it's a bit worse.

Shame you aren't closer Sjoerd, I could trade you some toms for some jars as the womens institute give me their spares as they can only use perfectly plain jars, so I get all the shaped ones and have boxes full in the garage.

Oh that is such a beautiful sight! I only wish we had half so many. So far we managed 13 quarts from 30 plants.

Thanks guys.
Oh I sure wish you lived closer too, EJ--those jars would be welcome. Oh well.
We are already trying to make more room in the house for the next load.
Well Growingpains...I'm glad that I don't have 30 plants, or I'd have to go commercial! Ha ha ha Laughing

Sjoerd, Randy and I are curious about that first photo. How many attempts did it take to get one that perfect? It is absolutely gorgeous.
