The Banded Orange Heliconian Butterfly is native from Brazil to Central Mexico. In the summer it can be found as far north as central Kansas. (No, I'm not smart..I found this info on the web. ) Photos taken at the Festival of Butterflies at Powell Gardens www.powellgardens.org
