The Erato Heliconian Butterfly is local to the rain forest of Costa Rica but can be found in south Texas during the summer.

This was my grand daughter Madysons favorite because of the pinky red color. He was also real tricky to photograph.

Photos taken at the Festival of Butterflies at Powell Gardens.

Somehow I get the impression I was being laughed at.

Another beauty, and this one is actually posing too. Very Happy I wonder which side it thought was the best.

I've seen these butterflies at a butterfly centre and the black on their wings is just like velvet. With the bright colours against the dark background I can see why it was your grand daughters favourite.
