Many years ago I bought a dwarf hibiscus. It has since grew very large and is blocking our front door. Can anyone tell me when I can cut it back a little without hurting it? It still has many flowers on it at this time. We live in New paltz, New York. Thanks in advance for any help. Confused

I cut my hibiscus back in the early spring. It has done quite well. I live in Zone 7 so make sure Spring is here to stay before beginning this task.

Here is a good link which gives good directions:

My hibiscus dies back to the ground or only roots left underground.I cut it back after the first frost and cover the roots real well with mulch Then take the cuttings to start new plants in the green house to give away.
