This is an old timey mountain style cake for chocolate lovers, and very easy as it is iced in the pan after it is baked. Let cake cool a spell . . . to just warm before you put that icing on. It is wonderful as a hot fudge cake if it is topped with vanilla ice cream, but has such a wonderful taste that it can stand on its on.

1 stick of butter (melted)
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup all purpose (plain) flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 16 oz. can of Hershey's chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and lightly grease pan. (I use a sheet pan . . . so I can cover it after I ice it.)Mix butter, sugar, add eggs, flour, baking powder, syrup, and vanilla. Bake in sheet pan for 30 minutes. Icing: Combine 1 stick of butter, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup evaporated milk, and 1/2 pkg (3 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips in a saucepan, and melt together. Boil 2 to 3 minutes, and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Pour over warm cake.

It's wonderful . . . and doesn't have to be refrigerated if you keep a lid on it.
