I have what is supposedly a Bonsai plant, so says the label, that is dying. It looks more like a miniature tree with its roots winding up together. I recently moved and took it with me in the car for about 10 hours, so I'm wondering if that is the problem. Almost all the leaves have fallen off and keep falling off. I've been giving it water whenever the soil feels dry and it is in a place where it receives moderate to bright light. I'd really like to nurse it back to health but I don't really know what to do for it since more and more leaves are falling off. Any suggestions?
I think you are right and that the stress of the ten hour journey may be your problem SA. Bonsais don't like to be moved out of their own environment. You are doing all the right things so I'd give the plant time to recover and it may still produce new leaves. If, and when, it does then give it a boost with a diluted feed. My own bonsai suddenly dropped all its leaves and I thought I'd killed the poor little tree. I had moved it whilst cleaning and it obviously didn't like the cooler temperatures. However, it's back in its place, and now has tiny new leaf buds showing so there's hope for your one yet. :-D
That sounds like the car drive could be the problem. I had moved my orchid that was so beautiful and now all the flowers fell off......I won't do that again...good luck with your Bonsai..I didn't have any success with them when I tried one years ago.
