I don't know the name of the cactus but the other plant is a Sedum Autumn Joy. It blooms in the fall, starting out white then turning red. Capt Kirk posted a picture of his Autumn Joy hedge.

It multiplies very well. It will take a few years, he said he had 4 plants 8-10 yrs ago, but the three I planted last year have already multiplied to 10 plants.

I'm wondering if your succulent is a Stapelia of some sort. If that flower smells like rotting meat, I think it is.

Droopy it is a Stapelia but it is the kind that doesn't smell like rotting meat.It is also called a Starfish Flower.
It is open now.

Gosh your starfish flower is well named isn't it? It looks just like the starfish you can find in some big rock pools here. I love it!!

Oh yes, I am loving that cactus also. Just like Patrick Star. We have the sedum in the garden here. It does have a tendancy to spread, which is fine, but they can be floppy if grown too lush or in the shade. They are nice in the autumn and early winter though.

I love that Starfish Flower, is it rare? I am so jealous of all the wonderful plants everyone here seems to have, I can never find anything that isn't overly common & everyone has it.

Sedum Autumn joy grows very easily and the lavender color is great. however, I hate the brown heads they turn into. I'm afraid that's when it's "off with their heads!"
