Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to verify if I damaged my lawn mower.
I just bought it and the salesman told me all I had to do is run it as is ... turns out there wasn't much oil in it... I've since topped it up but I'm not sure (ran it 4 times like this)
It still starts great but in heavy grass I hear a little clucking sound...

when I turn the blade manually (engine off) Smile
I feel like the piston is scrapping the cylinders???

anyone

Evil Roy here posting via my darling wife's account.

The scraping may be normal depending on the engine brand, but the clicking noise isn't. If it's still under warranty, take it back to the dealer and have them check it. Don't mention the low oil. If they determine that the engine is damaged, ask for the manager, explain the situation, and demand a replacement. If you bought it using a credit card, contact them and see if you can dispute the charge. The saleman (and the dealership) made a mistake by not checking the oil before you left, and the dealer should correct it. It shouldn't cost you anything to get it straightened out.

Many consumer grade lawnmowers come with little or no oil in them due to shipping regulations.

If you take it back they may or may not accept it depending on where you bought it?

What did the manual say about oil fill?
