We re-homed two hedgehogs from the rescue centre this past spring and they have had babies....this is one of them that was out the other morning and after feeding it and setting it back out into our garden that evening, we found it wandering again the next day
out in the car park so he/she is now living in our conservatory until next May when it can go back out....It weighs as of today 10.3 ounces...soooo tiny!! It has to weigh at least 1 pound before we can let it hibernate so we are fattening it up and keeping it awake.....

I simply adore hedgehogs!  I think they're my favourite wildlife animal. We've got wild ones here, and I'm happy to say there are babies this year. Good luck to the little fella, I hope he will put on lots of weight fast.

I'm jealous  I wish we had them but as far as I know the only place to find them is the pet store

I haven't seen one here either. They are so cute. Are they at all destructive in the garden. Eileen had one that she nursed back from a broken leg and released into her garden. They are so small but cute. dooley

I rescued a hedgehog with a broken leg earlier this year. She's now been returned to the wild much heavier and walking normally again. I'm so glad that you are helping our little friends too as they do so much good in our gardens and are - well - just plain cute!!!

They are not that destructive in the garden just a few little dig spots where they are digging out a beetle or worm...they love slugs and snails too...I am going hunting tonight for a few slugs for it.

Very sad news........Bob/Bobby went to hedgehog heaven last night...he ate and went to bed. I found him this morning...I guess he was just too small or ill, tho he ate like a small horse....

I am sorry for your loss, Im am going to school to be a vet tech. I am hoping to get a job in wild life rehab. & rescue area so I think its wonderful that you help these little guys (& girls) out.

That was a shame losing the young hedgie. I haven't had any hedgehogs this year despite feeding many in past summers/autumn. I even had one hybernating in a hedgie house overwinter. I read somewhere this week that the hedgehogs biggest predator is the Fox.

Awwwwwwwww, so cute, and so sad. What a shame. I can't remember when I last saw a hodgeheg that wasn't squished in the road! However, hopefully going to rectify that as mum has bought me a hedgey house for the garden as apparently we have lots in the neighbourhood, so you never know.
