I have several Amaryllis planted in the flower beds, I'm not sure that they will survive outside this winter. Give me some advise on when and how to take them up and pot up to bloom in the sun room. I would love to have them to bloom inside when theres not much blooming going on.

I never take mine up except to seperate the babies and I always cover mine with leaves and mulch and then pull it back in the spring.I am in zone 8 so that might not be how you do them.

I am in zone seven and we sometimes have temperatures in the single digits and quite a lot in the teens. I gues it would be just something I would have to try and see what happens.

I have grown Amaryllis outside during the summer months to re-juvinate the bulb. I usually lift the bulbs in october. let the soil dry then brush it off and then wrapo it in newspaper for a day.
Then I change the newspaper wrapping for 3-4 days or however long it takes until the paper stops feeling moist.
Once dry, I just keep it in a cool and dry place until december...then I fill a pot with potting soil and sink ¾ bulb into the soil, water lightly from ther bottom and let it be.
I place it on the western windowsill.

I think there are other ways to do this, and hopefullly the Stewbies here will tell you their methods as well.

Good luck!
