When we bought this house 21 years ago one wall of our bedroom was covered with beige carpet, one wall was painted lime green and the whole house had gold colored shag carpet. When taking down the carpet we found it been hung using tack strips and glue. Eventually we were able to paint and add a fake molding around the top of the walls in my sad attempt at interior decorating.

Now remember that the decorating of this room was planned by the same person who chose to cover one wall of the livingroom with wallpaper that looked a log wall. Yep, me again.

We haven't gotten all the doo-dads and pretties back on the walls yet, mainly because after 6 days of doing pretty much nothing but paint and tile we have just been taking this weekend off. I figured Randy should have some of his vacation to relax Wink

The floor after, you can see the floor before in front of the green cabinet. UGLY carpet. And that far wall is not turquoise like it appears.

We are not going to put the closet doors back on. We never closed them anyway and the room looks larger without them.
We removed the headboard from the bed (gave it to Lisa) so that moved the bed closer to the wall and gave us 7 inches more floor space at the foot of the bed. Randy has an idea for a new headboard...but that's a project for another day.

The paint smell is finally almost not noticable which helps a lot.

You did yourself quite a make-over there.
Those colours are rich and the Manx bedspread really sets it all off.

Congratulations on all the hard work.

Congratulations on a job well done! Very Happy Your bedroom looks lovely now. I really like your bedspread and the blue you've used on the drawers. Your new floor looks delightful too. I feel the urge to redecorate something.

Nice strong colours combinations Toni. It's interesting having one wall a darker blue than the others also.

Thanks Very Happy I know you don't often see a bedroom with so much color. I knew what colors I wanted but it took me quite a while going thru all the paint swatches at Lowes to find them in real life.

I had some second thoughts about it, but I learned when I was designing quilts to always go with my first idea because 'second thoughts' usually led me away from the way I really wanted it to look and they were like settling for second best.

Sjoerd, I have never heard the bedspread called Manx before, I had to look it up. Yes it is celtic inspired with the Celtic Knotwork design and the center is a depiction of the three phases of woman...maiden, mother, crone. And during the re-do of that room I went thru all three of those phases in 6 days. The Maiden going into the project full of the excitement of a new bedroom....the Mother concerned that it wasn't going to look like I had it pictured in my mind and worried that anything that went wrong would be all my fault....the Crone feeling all the aches and pains from the activity involved in the project, grouchy because I had a roaring headache for 4 of those days, a few more gray hairs from the stress, but in the end very pleased with what I had produced with my efforts.

Lovely shades of blue Toni and the new flooring is a BIG improvement on the old carpet. Well done!! Very Happy I have a navy blue celtic throw that I use in the spare bedroom and I think the patterns on these throws are gorgeous.

Well Toni...I was actually speaking of the symbol in the center of the bedspread. It is the symbol of the Isle of Man.
Look at this:

I think you have done a great job! I love a room, any room as long as there is a bold color somewhere in it. Well done!

I also love the spread, and what it represents, and the natural-ness (could be a word, lol) of bringing the life phases of women into the bedroom

Biita, I thought that spread was very appropriate for the room too. I bought it several years ago, a something told me I would have the perfect place for it at some point in the future.Wink

I wasn't sure about so many bright colors at first, those blasted 'second thoughts' crept in after Randy got the dark wall done but we are very pleased with the way it came out. We are getting all the doo-dads back in place next weekend so it will look more comfy.

Petunia, those are tiles. We have used them in almost every room so far.
