Beautiful blooms Glenda. I need to find some rain lilies, those are a gorgeous red color.
I had a large pot of dark red Mums I bought a couple of years ago, I transplanted them into the ground in front of a birdbath last spring and I noticed this morning that they are really starting to open up.

What lovely blooms, Glenda. Well, it really is plain to see that it truly isn't over there just yet...you lucky thing.
Do you know the Latin name for the "Confederate Rose"? That looks familiar, but I just can't place it.
The insects really like it it seems.
IO often look-up plants top see if they would grow here, but the things that flourish in Texas will not--except in a terrace pot that can be brought indoors for the winter.
I always see the plant shown on here as potential members of my garden "family", so to speak.
I find that the co-Stewbies have great taste in garden flowers, don't you?
Anyway Glenda, thanks for showing these flowers. I liked seeing them very much.

Really beautiful roses Glenda - such a delicate shade of pink. However, I'm deeply in love with those gorgeous rain lilies of yours and the yellow mums add a lovely touch of 'sunshine.'

I love the roses. What a pretty pink. I haven't tried rain lilies before. They will have to go on my South Carolina list!

Sjoerd,
Confederate Rose is the same as althea - in the hibiscus family. They also get called Rose of Sharon, I think.

Sjoerd, the Confederate Rose is in the Hibiscus family.
Confederate Roses (Hibiscus mutabilis) a shrub or short tree Hibiscus.

Such lovely roses, Glenda. The Rain Lilies are very exotic. Glad it's not over in Texas.

Thank you all for enjoying probably my last hoorah of the fall.
WTDaddy they are not the same as Rose of Sharon.Texas Star Hibiscus is in the family too but not the same. The Confederate Rose blooms are much much larger than the Rose of Sharon.

So, is there a diference between Rose of Sharon & Althea, with hardy wooden branches? I thought they were the same & that Confederate Rose was the kind, where the enitre above-ground portion died in Winter. Or is that Rose Mallow?

The Althea is the same as Rose of Sharon. It grows tall but stays a bush. The confederate rose looses all its leaves but puts out on the same limbs in the Spring. Its called a bush but if you don't trim it back and just let it grow it will become a hugh tree.
My regular Hibiscus dies back and then comes back from the roots. The Texas Star does the same thing.
