Thanks to Sjoerd's tips on how to compost, my plants are thriving! This is my oregano. I have used a ton of it, cut off pieces and moved it to other planters and gardens and I still have enough oregano for all of Kuwait. (Ok, slight exaggeration.) Sorry about the dust on the plants, I washed everything off this morning and it is already building up. The trials of living near desert..

Great looking herb, I have never had much success with growing herbs maybe I need to try again.

Bless your little green thumbs! TBL, you have really done yourself proud. Just look at that Oregano...and so much....and in the desert(almost). Your oregano looks better than mine too--it's leaves are larger. 
Your accomplishments in Kuwait really are worthy of some kind of medal. You know...some say that the hanging gardens of Babylon were a myth--but what you are doing there makes it look like it could certainaly be true.
I'm very pleased for you...and a bit embarassed that you mentioned my name.  That was such a nice thing to do, but let there be no mistake here--what you did, you did all by yourself. All the credit is due to you and your apparent ability to garden in one of the most challenging places in the world.
Well done, you!
....I shall go to bed with a big smile on my face tonight.

It really is great when plants grow to be so healthy, Eileen. Especially after my spectacular failures- of which there were many. Playtime, don't give up. If I can grow herbs, so can you. Once they get going and you have the right compost, there is no stopping them! And it is so much better than you can buy in the store. Maybe it's partly the joy of having done it yourself. But it really is something when you brush by your rosemary or oregano and that smell wafts up. A little bit of heaven. Stewing is wonderful, gardengater, I have learned so much here and everyones pictures are a real joy and inspiration to see. Thank you, everyone, for your encouragement. And Sjoerd, the compost really did make a huge difference. My poor little plants really needed that extra boost. Back in the States, I had great soil and I was able to plant cover crops in between. I hadn't tried container planting until Kuwait. Container planting was a whole new ballgame and I was really getting frustrated at my lack of ability to grow anything for so long. Now I am thrilled! Thanks again to everyone.

That is a wonderful plant. You did a great job. I think in gardening there has to be failures. How else would one learn.
