Ok guyz n girlz..last yr i noticed this thing..it looks like a mushroom but it not..it was hallow and this red powdery substance poofed out..when pressed down on it...i have no idea what n hell this is....now this yr the powder is there again...heres a pic of the powdery substance [/img]

Hi Flowerchild 74 (great name BTW ) retired ? hippie myself what you have is definately a fungus , I cant really identify from photo . New York has one of the best Mycological Herberiums in the world ( fungi identifiers ,(( i just wanted to use the word mycological in a sentence )) hope this helps . send them a photo next time .

Hey FC74,
looks and sounds like a puff ball fungus to me.
Did it look like an oversized roundish brown mushroom?
I saw one like this before in a field belonging to my father, it intrigued me.
Being a knarky Irishman, I gave it a kick, it produced a cloud of reddish brown spores that made me splutter.
Someone told me later that those spores could be carcenogenic, hope not!
My advice to you if you wish to see less of these fungi, is to suck up and get rid of the dust (spores) with a garden vac.
I really am quite a fungi!
