Well the time we actually spent working on the pond was around a week but we had to take a break when Ian's dad died so it's taken three weeks in total since we actually marked out the new pond.

We're off to Holland on the 14th and will be filling our 4x4 with lots of bog plants, marginals and water plants. They are very much cheaper over there than they are here and there are no restrictions about bringing them into the country as most of our garden centre plants already come from Holand anyway.
We'd better get our fingers out and complete the bog garden in time for them.

Edited to add this:

I've just come in from the garden (can't stop staring at the pond Embarassed ) and, guess what, the frogs are croaking away like mad!!!!!

Didn't take ME any time at all Craig - got Ian to do it for me!! Wink Wink Laughing Laughing

No seriously didn't take too long at all (about a week from start to finish - you know a couple of hours here another couple there) now that I've put some plants in it's beginning to look good. Very Happy
I bought more plants while away at the week-end and will be putting them in too asap. Will try to remember to show you all an updated pic soon.

I would love to see an updated pic of the pond Eileen. Dunno how you are going to top the previous pics though.

What type of plants did you buy?

Edit: Photo no longer exists

This is how the pond looked a few days ago. We've since planted alpines around the front area and added more plants to the bog garden. We can't move the pond plants to there permanent positions at the moment as tadpoles have hatched and we don't want to risk disturbing them too much. We still have to construct the waterfall (on the right hand side of the picture) and plant up the mound around it. Hard work but definately worth it.

Later:

We've built a temporary area at the back of the pond consisting of large pine cones, rocks and branches to allow the froglets to have somewhere safe to hide when they emerge from the water.

The bog garden is finished now and just needs time to grow. Smile I'll take another piccie soon ........... if it ever stops teemng with rain. Sad
