1/2 cup butter
4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate****
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nuts (Optional)
Confectioners sugar
****If you don't have the squares of baking chocolate you can substitute 12 Tablespoons of unsweeten baking cocoa powder and 4 Tablespoons butter.
Melt butter and chocolate together, remove from heat and let cool. Beat eggs and sugar in seperate bowl, add to cooled chocolate and mix well.
Add dry ingredients to liquid, mix well.
Add nuts. Cover and chill in fridge at least 30 minutes. Keep bowl of remaining cookie dough in fridge while each batch is cooking.
Scoop out and roll into balls about an inch in diameter, roll in confectioners sugar and place on ungreased baking sheet about an inch apart, they will flatten while baking.
Bake at 300 degrees F for 15-18 minutes or until the center is soft to the touch but not gooey. These are a soft cookie.
