Shortly after we moved into our house last year and were cleaning up the back garden we found a dog poop composter near the hedges that grown alongside the side road of our house. I wouldn't have put it there myself. I would have chosen the back corner far from the house, but there it is. Its some sort of container in the ground with a lid identifying what it is. We have two dogs but I rarely let them loose in the backyard - one is always looking for a loose picket and if she escapes the other one follows! I walk them regularly, scoop, and flush it when I get home.
But now I'm kind of curious how the composter works. If there is any special attention to make the dog poop compose faster. I'm looking into opening a dog daycare business out of my basement and will need the back yard for potty and play area, so am thinking that composter may come into use after all.
Thanks!

I have heard of these dog doo composters before but I don't know whether I would like one in my garden. I suppose if you had a very large plot you could, as you say, position it as far away from the house as possible.
I have found some information about them which may be of use to you

I had one and it worked fine except that our warm time is so short here and I do not think the chemicals work in a cold climate or in winter...You need warmth and adding I think water with the chemicals. Ours we bought at fleet farm...It is nice and you don't smell up your garbage if you have a nice enough climate...Good Luck..I think ours was called a doggy dooley..

I commend you on your dedicated flushing! I feel terrible each time I put dog waste in a bag and toss it. Can I ask you what you carry it along on your walk in until you get home?

I've used the doggie dooley when my dogs were pups. They sleep outside in a pen and I have this dug in right nearby. Worked great.
