Hi everyone,
I am in my second summer at my new home and there seems to be a weed or plant destroying my lawn. Last summer the grass was in decent shape but this Spring, the grass is disappearing from one side of the yard - and it seems like it's moving towards the other side where there is still some decent grass left. Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am very frustrated at the moment.

Very hard to tell , maybe mouse eared chickweed . Whereabouts are you  Bugs

I am located in South Jersey - Sicklerville, to be exact.
Interesting - I have to look up that weed, bugs.

It sure looks like mouse eared chickweed to me.
Small white flowers on upright stems whilst the rest of the stems sprawl on the ground.
The leaves are also oval and downey again just like Cerastium holosteoides.
I believe 1 treatment of a selective lawn weedkiller containing the active ingredients dicamba or mecoprop will check this weed.
A selective weedkiller we use in Ireland called "Verdone 2" is perfect for this.

Thanks for the information, it sounds like you hit it on the head. I posted this on another site as well because I was so desperate for answers - and one gentleman mentioned that the weeds are already starting to flower and soon after that they will produce seeds. If that happens then I would have another generation of these to deal with. It makes a lot of sense. I will have to knock them out soon to try and stay ahead. (Thanks JohnCT!!) John mentioned the product Weed-B-Gon as well.
