Hi Gardenmama I've been off the stew for a while I've been sick. But I'm glad to be back. I may sound stupid but what are you going to use the heating pad for.
I've never heard of this, how do you use them? It sounds like a good idea, do you use it like a little hot house?
I just started growing my own last year and any ideas I can get I really appreciate them.
Where do you your seeds from? I tried to order from Michigan Seed but I had all kinds of problems so I was kind of worried to order anything. Will they send them right out or do you have to wait until spring?
I'm sorry I'm just full of questions when it comes to flowers because I'm kind of new at it. I've got a book from Burgess Seed the other day they have some nice things in it,

When you are germinating seeds you place the heating pads under the trays and it warms the soil. On top of the trays you place domes, everything goes under heat lamps. Everything is warm and makes the seeds germinate faster. They grow very very fast....You don't have to use the heat lamps but it helps a lot! It is like a little hot house right on my dining room table. The germination stations with the heat lamp cost about $30 but they are worth it and you can use them over and over.
I order my seeds from the Burpee Catelog or online at burpee. This year I have many seeds from pepperdude as well.

How can you ever get smart without asking questions? I'm afraid I've had serious problems with Michigan Bulb too, items not sent and such. I kinda like getting my seeds from local garden places, going through the racks is as entertaining as any book store, and you have the seeds when you buy them (though I did just order from Artistic Gardens because they sell very small seed packets. We shall see!)

Hi critterpainter could I have the adress of the Artistic Gardens?I like the idea of smaller packets, Do the local garden places have seeds this time of year? Maybe they could send me a magizine.

I buy the rest of my seeds at local garden centers but they won't have tomato and pepper seeds until april and that is way too late to start the plants. Burpee is a great company to order from.
