The stores are selling off the Amaryllis bubls at redicluously low prices. Are these good deals or are they seeling them off becasue they are not any good anymore? Should I get a few? What do you think?

Oh yes please do Tina!! I just bought one two weeks ago and you'll be amazed at how well they do at this time of year indoors - and how fast they grow. Mine is already over a foot tall. Shocked Plant them straight away in a good general compost, water, then just sit back and wait for the first shoots to appear. Very Happy

I would get some if I had the chance. You just have to check them closely (remember they are the left-overs). Don't get any bulbs that feel soft or that have visible fungus colonies.
I buy them out of season when I am in Amsterdam. There is a largish floating flower market there. It is geared primarily to the tourists now but we still go and buy there sometimes.

Listen to Eileen's advice above.
I like to let them bloom now and then I set them out in the garden and let the bulb replenish itself via the long, green leaves during the summer--you'll notice that the bulb shrinks after having made a flower stalk or two.

Good luck, you lucky so-'n-so! Wink
