This little beetle has been chewing off the tops of my rose buds. I finally had the camera with me when I caught him red handed.

I tried to get more and better pics but I guess he was camera shy cuz he flew the coop.

The damage they are doing(old pics)

Anyone know?

Oh dear it looks as though Toni has found your culprit. Let's hope there aren't more of them around.

OK I went out there with my camera but everytime I tried to get a good shot, they would take off. So I found a bud one was munching on and I took it...bud and bug. I put them in a ziplock bag.
Now every one if them I have seen are yellow with black dots and the dots are always in a row. Their bodys are long and their head is solid black . At the end of the head, looks like that of a ant. It looks like small pinchers for a mouth.

Heres the pics.

Now if you need more pics, let me know. I have him in a bag and Im NOT letting him go! So he is ready for his closeup!!

Oh dear not something you want in the garden!!! Very destructive. Sad I hope you can find something that will kill them off before they destroy any more of your poor plants.
Sorry about the wrong ID but it did look like a ladybird in your first piccies - maybe it would have been better if it had been one after all. Crying or Very sad

I would prefer a ladybug to this!!! Sok about the wrong ID. They were bad pics.

I guess Ill be buying some ladybugs now. They say that they will eat these larva. I have to do something. They also say that when they hatch, they will attack the host plant by the roots. Crying or Very sad
