The finches never leave our area...which is great , they do loose their beautiful yellow and turn lighter in our winter months.
Here is a common redpoll...the first one I have captured this winter...

Your goldfinches look very similar to our female chaffinches Sherry. I must admit I have a soft spot for finches and love to see them in the garden. Great job getting a piccie of the redpole!!
