Well we have the heaviest snow fall for two decades here in the UK. As usual our road services can't cope with it, no gritters etc so roads are really treacherous. Couldn't get the car out of the garage this morning as we have upwards of 6" of snow on the drive and our village is a bit cut off from the main roads so daughter could not get into work. Have attached a few photos.

Taken out of window to back garden across to the pond.
Chaffinches in the snow under the bird feeders. I don't know what has happened to the blackbird, looks as if a load of snow has been dumped on him 
The birds are really active around the feeders this morning, the ground feeders are even trying to use the hanging feeders, the blackbirds are balancing on the perches trying to get at the peanuts.

Crikey you have got it bad, I saw it all on the news last night but we have been relativly lucky here at the moment, I know what you mean about the lack of gritters ect,, it is typical of this country they know the weather is coming but leave it till the last minute before they attempt anything. We border on two different councils where I live and you will find the start of your journey is treacherous but shortly into it the road will be clear where the other council have cleared the roads.

Hi Gardengirl,
Well, you got your share of snow, didn't you. I must say, your garden does look wonderful in the snow, though.
The little finches look nice there scratching for some seed.
We have one lonely chaffinch on the lottie--I guess the rest flew over to you.

I think you have had more than us Pat, but it is still snowing here. The schools are closed so the kids were out wrecking the garden at 8.30am and are now on the sofa with hot water bottles trying to melt the icicles that are hanging from their noses!

It's still coming down here too. Everything looks pristine with the snow on the ground but I have a feeling we're in for a whole lot more. So much for going outdoors to do some gardening - I can hardly see the garden!!

I wish I could send it to you Droopy, we have had a few more inches since this morning and there is a threat of more to come. Unlike other countries, there is utter chaos in the UK when it snows

HOpe you survive all that cold stuff. We in NC got the first snow in 5 years, though not as much as you. Pretty photos though.

Well, no wonder. You're not equipped to handle it, so of course there will be chaos. I'd think that keeping a machine park for snow moving and road clearing will be very expensive if it's only used once or twice every three years or so. It's all about what one's used to I guess.
