The Downy Woodpeckers are really visiting a lot lately. They love to climb all over the pergola and eat the suet I put out for them.
This is a suet log my husband made from a piece of a tree and he drilled some holes in it to fill with suet.
Look close at the feathers on the chest...they are blowing some in the wind...

Sherry your photographs just get better and better!! Our woodpeckers love the suet we put out for them too. We have them visiting three or four times a day and they now let me get withing 6-7 feet of them without them flying away.

That little woodpecker is so cute! It looks very happy with it's food there. Lovely photos, Sherry, please keep them coming.

Lovely photos Sherry. I am really envious as we have not yet had a woodpecker visiting. Maybe I should make up a suet feeder, what a great idea.
