Hello, Does anyone know how you make a hummingbird feeder out of a wine bottle? We always have wine bottles and I saw it mentioned someplace that could be done. I have a lot of friends who would just love this as a gift.

Thank you--Kelly in Vermont

I have a homemade hummingbird feeder that was made from a decorative bottle. Don't see why it couldn't be a wine bottle. Mine uses a cork that fits the opening and is drilled to fit a glass tube/pipe (like from a hamster watering bottle http://www.petsupplies.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=651100&QTY=1&More+Info.x=64&More+Info.y=13).
The cork looks like it was sealed with wax where the glass tube/pipe was inserted. A light gage wire was wrapped around the bottle to hang it, and was part of the decoration.

Sorry I don't have any pics to show. Have fun!

Hi Kleonard, I did a search on google for hummingbird feeder tubes and there were several sites that offered them, as well as other valuable information on hummingbirds. I am building Bottle trees and fountains using wine bottles and copper. If you have any "cobalt blue" bottles, I would be very interested in them. Thanks and good luck with your hummingbirds.
