There in a box, at the bottom of the forum list, that gives information about who is visiting and who has visited earlier that day, and so on. I noticed that there is a category of visitor that is called “hidden”. Just as a matter of curiosity, I wonder, what is a hidden visitor? Or shouldn’t I ask?

Any member who wants to wander thru the forum without anyone knowing they are here has the option of having their ID hidden.
Under 'Edit Profile' is a list of preferrences where you can choose to be hidden.

I did it for a few days when I first joined. I had never been on a forum before and wanted to look around before anyone noticed I was here Rolling Eyes

Correct bsewnsew you don't have to be a member to view Stew's content. But then you can't really interact with the site in any way. Some members join up so that can watch a topic for updates or subscribe to a blog, not necessarily to post anything.

Good question Tom.

That's why I joined the stew. I typed a question about tomatos into Google and found a similar question and answer on the stew. Then I joined in hope of more answers to future questions. I have not been disappointed.
