|
I’m a recently single guy and I’ve found a need to redecorate some of my rooms a little. I’d kind of like to go with a more masculine theme. I’m on a little bit of a tight budget, so I don’t want to make any drastic changes. The first room I’m looking at is my master bedroom. It’s pretty large. The walls are painted a light beige color, but it’s more of an off white. The carpet is also a light beige color. I attached a picture that shows the furniture color and the color of the shades that I plan to keep. I’d like to just put black valances over the windows... any opinions on that?

What about a deep, regal red? Red is still a masculine colour, but maybe a bit more uplifting to wake up to than black?

I like that idea. How about Crimson? Would you consider that a deep, royal red? These are the curtains (valance's) I'm considering:

The crimson would be very nice in there. You could throw in a few dark blue or gold colors too....i.e. lampshade, rugs, etc.

My comforter is gold with black around the edges. The crimson colored valances I wanted were sold out
What do you think of the wine colored ones below? Thanks for putting up with my indecisiveness!!

If you want pillows to match the valance find someone who will sew them for you. Buy one or two extra valances depending on what size they are and how large you want the pillows.

My vote goes for the Wine and like Susie said, throw a couple of matching pillows on the bed. Don't worry about indecisiveness. That's one thing we are good at...throwing out tips.

Thanks for all your help. I took your advice and ordered an extra valance to have a pillow or pillows made. I'm also going to look for something dark blue for one of walls without windows. I'll post pics when I'm done.

I like the wine color also. But I think black would have been fine. I am currently redoing my step-sons bedroom who is almost 17 and made black curtains, and pillow sham for him. I think as long as you dont overdo one color it would fine.
Looking forward to seeing the end results.

if you have a gold cover with black edging, could you find curtains or just a valance in gold with black edging also.or just plain gold curtains with a black top valance would be lovlely. A couple of black cushions on your bed.

It's a nice look, but it's what was there before. The curtains were the same as the comforter and pillow covers. I don't have the curtains anymore and I wanted to change things up a bit...
