Hello everyone, This is my first year gardening and I am really enjoying it. I have learned a lot here but I have a question. The stem of my cucumber plants are splitting in the middle and looks dry...is this a pest or a disease and how can i fix it??

Hi Gardengirl I found this don't know if it is the same as your problem.
Plants wilt and die, beginning with older crown leaves.
Light brown streaks occur inside lower stem, runners and root. Visible when split lengthwise.
    Verticillium wilt(caused by Vertfcillium fungus)
Rotate. Avoid soil previously planted in potatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, and cucurbits.

Also found this site. sorry for putting a link on but it explains it better.
