This blackbird is building his nest right close to our kitchen window in a sheltered corner of our bungalow. I have been following his progress. It's amazing how neat the nest is, just like a little wicker basket. I will try to post follow up photos as things progress.

How cool is that?! Hope she has a successful nesting season up there.

This is actually the male who is building the nest. I hope he has a female lined up to take up residence Laughing

I thought it was a bit too close Glenda so I asked a friend of mine who is a bird expert and she said that don't get too excited as the female may not use the nest. Apparently some birds, ie: wrens build about 4 nests for their female to choose which one she wants to lay her eggs in. I do hope my female blackbird chooses our nest Very Happy

I thought it a bit unusual.I hope she chooses yours too.I think it would be so much fun to watch.I am use to seeing sparrow and robins nest like yours.

I'm not sure exactly where 'my' blackbirds have decided to have their nest this year. (I think it's in next doors garden.) The female has obviously decided she likes where the male has built though as she was pulling moss from my planters to line the new nursery with.

Thast's a good foto. It is so much fun to observe developments in nesting bird families. I shall be looking forward to your ensuing posts.
