I want to make some herbal hydrosols this year to use in soaps, lotions and potions Wink
We ordered the assorted flasks, funnels and a condenser, picked up copper tubing and elbows. We had found a slow cooker at a thrift store and have a metal pot. Randy put everything together yesterday and now I have my very own still.

For making herbal hydrosols ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )

Quite the contraption, almost Dr. Seuss-ish! What exactly are hydrosols and how do you use them?

You're going to be busy with that still Toni. You must show us photographs of all the lotions, potions and soaps you make. Very Happy Don't worry you're safe from the revenooers 'cause we gardeners stick together. Wink

Looks good, albeit a tad frightening. Laughing I'm certain you'll put it to good use.

I'm not sure what a Revenoor is, but I sure won't tell. Lips are sealed.

I do envy you with your still tho. All those pure extracts you can make now, and not have to worry if they are pure or not. Good ingenuity! I would love to see the results tho, and what becomes of it.

A Revenooer is an agent of the Internal Revenue Service in the states. A person using an unlicensed still to make home made drinking alcohol would eventually be shut down and jailed by the Revenooers for not paying taxes on their product.
Stills are legal as long as they are not used to make alcohol tho. Wink

I think a person is allowed to make so much for personal use only I'm not sure if a still is legal to cook off personal use or not.
It looks evil Smile

Aha!! Okay, i sure won't tell them then.

Its like that here, you can have a still and only make so much for personal use. Then your supposed to pay tax. Its kind of the same with wine too, as long as its below a certain percentage of alchohol.
