Here's one for the botanical detectives:

I don't know where my head was, but a couple years ago I put a bed of crushed sea shells down the side of my yard, to include my once-resplendent orange tree. It was pretty wan last year, and this year only gave up about 12 oranges total. It's not completely dead, but there are only a couple branches to one side with blossoms. It's got kind of a dual trunk on it, so I think one side it totally shot, but maybe I can salvage the other. Did I poison it with the shells? Can I do anything to rectify the situation at this point?

Maybe a huge Calcium buildup from the shells, but that's not usually bad. Probably a high pH. So you need to find something to reduce the pH level. Confused You might want to get your soil tested.

Compost and manure will work to lower the pH. As will ground rock sulfur.
