Tonight when I took Balder to the open field to do his duty to help fertilise Norway, I came across trees I have passed everyday since I came to the south. But, tonight I noticed they have blossoms on them. I wasn't over to the field all day or I would of noticed them earlier.

This is probably easy for everyone but I don't know trees that well.

But that wasn't all I found. Ha!! Henna is very happy now. (henna=me for those who don't know)

Ohhh yes come tomorrow when they have opened i will be ready with fingers in the picking position.

Also I found another little wild raspberry plants, with no flowers yet and also a little flower plant, that is eluding me right now, but the roots are edible. They are so small tho I guess you have to be really hungry to want to eat them.

Raspberry

small edible root plant.

Any kind of help with the tree will be greatly appriciated. Thanks!!!

Looks like its from the Rosaceae family. Possibly some sort of pear or plum. What are you going to do with the Dandelions, make some tea?

Take a look at just one of the dishes Biita makes with the humble Dandelion. I love the comment she made last year that to her Dandelions are 'dinner and a drink' She also makes wine from them.

Wow, Surprised I'm gonna have to try the Dandelion Carbonara and the Dandelion Wine. They both sound delicious. Props to you Biita for the recipes and thanks Toni for showing me that.

I think your mystery tree is a cherry, Biita. We've got self-seeded ones all over the place, and I don't think southern Norway is much different from here.

Your mystery tree looks exactly the same as my cherry trees so I think everyone is correct with their IDs Biita. I sense some cherry recipes in the offing. Very Happy

Well you know there will be cherry jam and/or jelly and cherry wine.
Biita don't forget the Cherry soup I posted a couple of years ago.

Cherry trees huh! Wow! Don't see those up north, no wonder i didn't know. lol. Thanks all for the help.

The Dandelions have been plucked and dandelion muffins are in the works. Just the flowers that is. The leaves I will wait until about dinner time then get them, and use for dinner, but what yet i don't know. lol. Soooo many things they can be used for.

When the cherries finally are ready, oh yeah there will be jams, jellys, liquors, and i will try to make wine. Fruit salads and just plain eating them alone. I hope their not the real sour ones.

Toni, the cherry soup recipe I had put in my personal cooking file here on the laptop when you first posted it. Ofcourse that file is backed up,,,,lol. I just have never had enough cherries at once to make fresh cherry soup. Now i have no excuse,,lol. I already have plans for that with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream right in the center of it. I sure hope those cherries are ready by mid-summer eve.

See that lose the blueberries and tyttebær in my front and back yard and gain cherries, raspberries and blackberries.

Thanks again all, i am very very happy!!

Gasp!! lol. yes i make dandelion wine. i have made it for a while now, and just love it. The trick. It really does have to sit a full year before it is at its peak and stays there. love the stuff!!

Foraging down here is a little different. But i think i'll get the hang of it soon,,,lol.
