I was sat looking out of the window this afternoon, it is very very windy and rainy and I saw this little guy all the rest of them had been clinging on to the side of the feeder for dear life and getting blown off, this little fellow had a better idea! it is a little sparrow though with his tail squashed up against the side of the feeder he looks like a over sized wren

I almost didn't see him at first. He blends in with the stuff in the feeder, thought he was another ball of food, lol.

Thank you for the comments, the lid had blown off in the wind so he took his oppurtunity, I might leave the lid off and see if he comes back and does it again i was laughing so hard at him as he would just tip himself upside down and fall into the feeder he was feeding for a very long time, he must have been very hungry.

I wonder if any of the others will copy him? It never ceases to amaze me how clever our wildlife can be. Stew Face 1

Laughing they have eaten too much now to get onto the fat balls they would get stuck, I need to put another in and see if they do it again, though it is not as windy today. I hope they do do it again it was so funny watching him almost fall into the feeder.

I am so glad people have enjoyed the photos of the little fellow as much as I did, and the thanks goes to my husband for the photos he went to the spare bedroom window to take them, I have to refill the feeder there is only half a fat ball left, now to find them thats another mission!

Really great how you managed to catch all that on film! Did you know that this was going to happen?

Anyway, birds do seem to be quite clever. Recently I bumped into this film on Youtube, and I've seen similar ones since:

He had done it once already so my husband got the camera and we were lucky that he/she came back. since then we have had a family of sparrow fledglings down and they are too adorable shaking their little selves asking for food.
