I bought a pot of blooming tulips and put them in a huge wine barrel container. I want it to come back in the same container next year. The blooms were past their prime when I bought them and got spent within a week and now the leaves are all yellow. Do you think it will be a good idea to put a layer of potting mix on top of the tulip blubs and sow some marigold/zinnia seeds? Basically I don't want the pot to look ugly this season and don't want to dig up the tulips either. Is this a possibility?
What do you think?

I think that's a good idea, Tina. The bulbs should just snuggle under the plants gathering strength for next season.

I agree with gardengater. Do sow something that will grow and brighten your planter this season. Very Happy
