Hi Everyone, I got some tree starts from the Arbor Day Foundation A week or so ago, But they look like 12 inch sticks, They say they are dormant But they look dead to me.They have nice roots on them . I wonder how long it will take them to come alive , if they are.
Thank You Margie

Go ahead and soak the roots for a few hours then plant them in pots. It takes bareroot plants a while to get the roots established before they start putting out above ground greenery.

After last winter the CM's I take of were devastated. They don't really grow well here in CT anyway and the winter was not helpful. I decided not to cut them back and recently (like the middle of May) they have made a lot of new shoots from what looked very dead branches.

So I would say hang in there and give them a chance.
