Thanks ya'll. I have one more undecorated one that I plan on spray painting silver...sort of a pretend gazing ball.
Glenda, is there a bowling alley near you? If so, give them a call, when bowling balls are too damaged to use they just throw them in the dumpster. Most alleys are more than willing to give you as many as you can haul away for free.

Hello all,
Glendann, many times there are Goodwill /
Salvation Army / Golden Rule stores with bowling
balls handy. They may be out of sight, but
sometimes the worker bees know right where
to find them. I scored four of them the other
day for a mere two dollars each.
I have plenty of them, but can't help myself
when I see them in the stores just crying out
to me. If I took a good count, I'd say there
must be at least a dozen around the house.
Recently, I finished a ball by applying
shattered tempered glass to a ball which had
been painted in multiple coats of various colored
metallic paint. This is a photo of it in the
sunshine before grouting:
There is another one in the works with mirrored
tiles, but it is taking a while because the
pieces I'm cutting are very tiny. If I can get
my camera to cooperate with the computer, I'll
post the progress of that one, too.
Love to talk bowling balls!
Karen Marie
