Yep, that is what this orb started life as. I wanted a mosaic look, so me and my trusty paints and brushes got to work. I wasn't sure how it would do outside when it rained but the rain has no affect on it at all. The stand was a thrift store find, don't know what it was originally but it is perfect for this.

Toni you are one arty lady! If I saw that in a garden I would practically be sprinting towards it to check it out.
And when you go bowling you can take it with you. Brilliant!

EJ,
The marble ones are really pretty in the garden.
Just had a thought, if you have a Hosta bed it would look really good in the middle of all that green.

I have a bronzed pottery ball in the garden but your is soooo much more colourful Toni. What kind of paints did you use to colour it?

I used Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint bought and Crafters Edition acrylic paint from Plaid Enterprises.
Both are found here in craft stores....Hobby Lobby, Michaels and JoAnns. But any acrylic paint should work, the crafters paint comes in small 2 ounce bottles so buying that many different colors was not cost prohibitive. I was amazed that the rain didn't wash it off.
For the silver paint between the "mosaic pieces" I used a paint pen also from a craft store.

I really thought that acrylic paint would wash off too Toni. I have plenty here ...... now what can I paint. Ian better not sit still for too long or he might just find himself multi-coloured.

Beautiful and psychedelic too. Those paints you mentioned hold up very well. You can use them instead of fabric paints on t-shirts as well.

Several years ago the Seattle Flower and Garden Show had a bowling ball theme for the show. Each display garden had to have one incorporated somehow. Some were not easy to find and it certainly was fun to look for them.
Yours is very eye catching. I'm impressed with your skill.

My goal would be to dress up as a clown and go bowling with such a bowling ball.
