12"green heart shaped leaves, grows 9/10 ft high, annu

This is the 3rd year these 3 guys have grown. By november we have to chop them down, the stalk is too strong to be pulled, so in the photo you can see the stump and the new sprouts growing out. I have 3 separate ones, two in one flower box, and one in the other flower box. They grow tremendously fast, they just started to sprout two weeks ago and they're about 3 feet tall already. They're in front of my house and people will ask me all the time what they are, and I honestly have no clue. I don't know how they even got there. We've had the same shrubs in the boxes for 14 years. We live in Queens, NY, and I'd love to be able to identify them. I had one landscaper call it a weed and another call it a palm tree. Any help will be greatly apprectiated!!
    Sincerely, Theresa

I'd love to help, but the photo seems to be missing.

Could it be Empress Tree Paulownia tomentosa? They grow extremely quickly. Has it ever had any blooms or seed pods on it?

    Thank you...

Thanks for such quick responses..... This has never bloomed flowers nor had seed pods, but my husband keeps chopping it down come November because he says they're gonna break the brick flower boxes if we let them keep growing, but I like them!

Keeping the plant cut down doesn't prevent the roots from growing so you might still have problems with it breaking out of the area it is planted in.
Plus it appears to be very close to the foundation of your house, you might want to make sure the roots are not going to cause foundation problems at some point too.
If it is an Empress Tree it can grow to 40'-70' feet tall.

Holy cow, that's quite big...I can't even figure out how they got in my flower boxes, it doesn't seem like there's anything like them anywhere near us, does that matter?

The seeds are winged, like maple seeds and can be blown for miles before landing somewhere. I don't know if birds eat the seeds but bird droppings are the source of several of the unplanted by me plants I have found in my yards.

I've never seen anything like it. If it is a Paulownia,I need a tree like that for some quick privacy!
