Time For A Break

Well, it's time to take a breather from the more laborious aspects of gardening and enjoy the flowers. Before sitting in my chair with a cuppa, I'd like to show you what is blooming here and there in the various plots.
I quite liked the way the sun fell on these Digitalis plants...well the whole little plot, actually.

The Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile' has begun to bloom and looks good with the Trollius'.

My one and only rose sort is really showing off this year after a swerious pruning inthe early spring. Gosh, you'd never guess it had been cut back so far. I have Lonicera growing through it so that the aphids will go on them instead of my roses. It works pretty good so far.

Lonicera flava is a gorgeous thing...too bad it has no fragrance. Oh well, I find that it's rich colour abd blooming bunches more than make up for that.

This type of Centaurea has had it tough but has produced it's first flower this year.

The blue Delphineum 'Summer Skies' has it's first bloom stem and it really pulls one's eye to it when walking by.

The Digitalis and Weigalia make a nice combination of colour for my eye.

Lychnis coronaria is beginning and I am glad to see it survived the winter. They don't always do so well with the cold and rain that we get here. I planted this one at the base of a Buddleja.

Finally, this back-lit geranium just caught my eye when I was weeding nearby.

...ahhhhhhh--now for a sit-down under the parasol with a cuppa tea and a bikkie. Feet propped-up, naturally. Wink

Thanks you folks for all your very nice comments---I shall pass the compliments along to all of the featured 'stars' tomorrow when I go to the lotties. They already have big heads but now I expect they'll be tough to live with from now on.

Hello Bip-- the name of that rose is 'Westerland'. It's the only rose that I have and so I sort of dote on it a little.

Thanks too, Eileen-- The roses look particularly good this year, I find--so full and bountiful are their petals. Some of them look good enough to eat. Really. Some don't look like roses at all, they look like some master confectioner's invention.
One thing that I like about this particular rose is it's 'spicey' fragrance, it drifts for quite a distance.

Cherylad-- That would be fun...and it's the best way I know to look over one's flowers and make plans.
