Finishing our basement

We are beginning to finish our basement. We will be putting in an office, bedroom, bathroom, bar and media area and storage room.

I am considering dark wood and wonder if I have to mix up the different finishes in the different areas of the basement. Will using the same colored wood and style be too much?

Our style is contemporary and my preference would be to use slab front doors on the cabinets. I wonder if I should consider shaker style for the interior doors rather then slab doors.

I don't want it to be too boring but when I think of mixing wood colors and styles I just don't see it.
