A damselfly with neat colors. They are rather easy to take a photo off but still nice to photograph.

Lovely clear photograph Kildale. I saw a Large Red Damselfly over our pond the other day. If the sun comes back then no doubt so will the dragonflies and the damsels. Fingers crossed.

I wonder if they live around here -- either we have a limited variety of bugs here, or I am not very observant... she is pretty.

It is probably that you haven't seen them. In one year, and really you can remove a few months of winter, I took about 170 different insects and spiders all in the garden. That of course included the young and the male and females. Have a look, all in one year. Wild in the Garden

I like damselflies, but I hardly ever manage to photograph them. However I do have an interesting collection of photos of the space where the damselfly was sitting just before the camera said "click".
