I've just moved into a new house, and we can't afford to change the kitchen cabinets so we're trying to come up with decorating ideas. We would prefer to stick to paint as I've just spent 2 days stripping the wallpaper, which was an awful job! We've also sanded and re-varnished the floors.

As you can see it's a long kitchen. The extended part is airy and bright, and the other half has big walls and is quite dark. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of collours? We would prefer something a bit more exciting than a shade of white. We have a lot of black cutlery / kitchen utensils so we would quite like it to tie in with that, although black goes with most colours.

I would appreciate any colour advice.
Many thanks.

Welcome, I wouldn't go with anything too dark as it make make the kitchen appear narrower. Just a thought Smile

Well, I guess most people would consider this a lot more exciting than white. This is what we did when we remodeled our kitchen a couple of years ago. The colors in your kitchen reminded me of ours so I figured I'd post this pic. It is an easy technique that required one gallon and 2 quarts of paint...each of them a different color. I get a lot of compliments on it. If you'd like more information, just let me know.
