just thought id share my big sunflower with everyone . Its yet to develop a head on it .and the leaves are getting huge

i have tomato plants behind them and worried they are losing out on some sun due to the huge leaves of my sunflower . Is it o.k to cut the leaves back ? or should i just tie them back.

here also is one of my sunflowers that went all odd. i transplanted it from the from to along the fence. must have put it in backwards as it twisted it self around then stopped growing and went black on the top.

attacked #2 but growing back ( photo / image / picture from moneyintheloops's Garden )

Maybe if you spray with Bayer insecticide and water well, it'll come back. Sunflowers are very sturdy. I had one to grow 7-8' tall. They should be gorgeous, but I'm not sure how your tomato will make out being shaded by them. Toms need at least 6-8 hrs of sun a day. Good luck.
