When it first came out I had heard about alot of bugs or problems with it? Are the problems still going on. I wanted to get a new computer and it has Vista...I am kind of scared to switch...what is the big difference?
Thank you,
Sherry
I just found some information on it a few pages back that Frank wrote.

For anyone else just seeing this post or who hasn't read it, this is Frank's early post about Vista

Sherry I have stopped using Vista but I do know that there has been one major upgrade to it to fix a lot of the earlier bugs and to improve compatibility with hardware.
There is a new Windows operating system coming out in late October / early November called Windows 7 which I have heard great things about. It is said to run much faster and is easier to use. So my advice to you would be if you can afford to then wait until after October and get a computer with Windows 7 installed.

I am running Vista and the upgrades seem to have it running OK. I do all the Windows upgrades as they are suggested (on an almost daily basis is sometimes seems). No hardware problems with printers, camera, etc. If you use dial-up for the Internet there are still bugs though. Had to do with some of the scripts some sites run (don't have that problem with our old computer running the old windows) We just got broadband and all the problems went away. Many places are offering free upgrade to the new Windows. Wish I'd waited a month to buy the computer so I'd have the new Windows (where I bought is now offering an upgrade when available on all computers running Vista)..but this ones doing fine.

Thank you everyone...
Frank...you didn't give a reason for not using it anymore...can you tell me why? You are so much better on a computer so I can depend on your opinion..I am in no hurry...mine is working just fine, just thought about upgrading and had the money but I will wait. Does anyone make computers without Vista? or is XP going to be obsolete? I have had a Dell and that is all I have ever had since 2005...thank you...Sherry

I have been reading much on this issue on the internet even at MS's website, from what I gather, Vista was a bomb and they know it! W7 is out and is offered at half price on the web..also have noticed at many site's that sell PC's they are offering W7 along with new PC's and free tech install on PC's having Vista in them... that tells me a lot!! also I have read from MS, that WXP is a workhorse and the best OS to date, they plan to offer updates forever, if possible, it is that good! I'm going to keep mine in tip top cond. for as long as I can, and that's a fact!!!

When I bought a new laptop 1 1/2 years ago, it came with Vista. I didn't want it first, but I must say that it has been working fine since the beginning. Never experienced any major bugs. Except, maybe, it crashed after 3 months and I had to reinstall everything, but that's more than a year ago.
What I did hate is the learning curve you have to go through, since everything looked different.

I use Vista and there seems to be very little wrong with it these days. I know there were problems when it was first introduced but they seem to have been ironed out now. I'm sure there will be a few bugs in the W7 programme to start with too but I'll stick with Vista for the time being and see what happens.
