Recall that huge amount of plums that I picked a couple of days ago? Well last niget we sat up until the wee hours jamming.
Here is the result...18 'normal' jars and two small ones that we put the left-over amounts. We had to do the jamming in three stages wioth little rest spells in betwee. That kitches was as hot of an oven. Pfffft!
Anyway these are the Opal plums. There are still some on the tree, but I guess they wil be for us and the birds and the yellowjackets (wasps, we call them).
I think that we have enough of these...my only worry are the Reina Victorias that have not yet ripened. There are about three times as many of those.
I wish you guys were closer to take some of the fresh fruit and the jam off my hands.
You can't really see it properly, but the jam is the most lovely colour dark red...it just LOOKS tasty.
The trug full.
...and the finished product:

All that jam will keep you both going for quite a while. Give me a few more days and I'll be making plum jam too.

Delish! After you posted about making your plum jam, I was prompted to get back on the jam wagon myself and currently have a huge purple mass of cooked blackcurrant dripping through a jelly bag so tomorrow I can make black currant jelly. I am going to do the same with the raspberries as everyone moans about the seeds in rasp jam, so I thought I would try jelly instead. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

You are a lucky man, Sjoerd. If those plums had been ripe when we were there you wouldn't have a single plum to make jam from.

I appreciate all your nice comments so much.
I am a real jam and jelly nut, and am starting fo feel that I shan't run out of jam before next year.
Good to hear that you made(are making) some jelly. Speaking of jelly--I need to get myself down the way to beg a few quinces to make some jelly this year--not that they will be ready, but to get my name on the 'waiting list'.
Alot of folks here use black currents to make a 'sauce' which they use on puddings and yogurt, etc. It is nice, I'll tell you that!

Ohhhh, I haven't had plums for jam in a few years. I don't have room for a tree but we used to get them from Randy's Mom's neighbor. Yours certainly looke tasty.
I did cook down some blueberries the other day and froze the juice to make jelly when the weather cools down enough to make heating up the kitchen a welcome thing.

Yummy yummy yummy!!! I wish we lived closer too -- I'd love some fresh made jam.
I am going to have lots of figs in another month or so. I will make some fig preserves.
The title of your post made me laugh -- I'm a Bob Marley fan.

I'm well chuffed that you two found that the jams looked yummy.
Toni, I an very sorry that your plum source dried-up. That is a real shame.
I am very interested to know how that jelly will turn out, so please do post with pics when the time comes, oké?.
Daisy, the figs sound so nice. It is great that you can have one outside there.
Ha ha ha So you like Bob Marley, eh. I didn't know you had heard of him there. Some of his music sounds really good to my ears, but the Rastafarian sub-culture is totally unknown here. I found it interesting to read about.
You be sure that you post some pics when you be jammin' too, baby. Ha ha ha ha ha...

You should see my fig trees -- I have two. I never did get around to trimming them this year so they are GINORMOUS! And really loaded. They're about the best growing thing in the yard right now. I'll post a pic soon. I've been kind of lazy.

I'd LURVE to see yer figs.
I hope that you get the time to take and post a few pics one of these days.
There was a small and simple accomodation in Granada, Spain that had a huge fig tree in the back garden. I used to sit there and drink tea as I made journnal entries...thinking how overwhelmingly romantic the tree and setting was.

It sounds like it was a lovely setting for thinking and pondering, Sjoerd. Personally, I think fig trees are really lovely -- the leaves with their veining, and the fruits... I'll get a pic on here in the next couple of days....
Mind you, being LAZY is not the same as being BUSY!!!
