Hello, I recently purchased a new house, the builder had a small amount of landscaping done prior to my purchase and there are 2 bushes that I've been unable to identify. The builder doesn't have any idea either and no longer uses the same landscaping company. They seem to grow very fast and the leaves have been green all summer, I actually thought about cutting them down, due to the fact that there are several trees that back up to my property and I thought maybe they were out of control weeds. However, around the end of July some of the leaves started turning a reddish color, so I thought maybe it really is some type of flowering shrub or something? I'm clueless, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I agree with Euonymus alata or Burning Bush. They will stand a hard pruning if you need to trim them.

Thank you SO much for your help! I'm glad I didn't cut them down now...lol, but I will definitely have to try and figure our how to prune it soon. They both look quite large and unruly, which is surprising, because they were planted about a year ago. Again, thank you!

The flowers are not much to look at, but the seed pods and berries are spectacular
