Local nursery closing down for the season and we picked up 9 raspberry plants, most everbearing, different varieties. Still in the nursery's plastic pots, some have raspberries that we snack on when we walk past them.

Husband is planning to build me raised flower beds as he puts the material together. I want to plant the raspberries into one (or 2) of them once built. And yes, planters will have a good ledge to sit or stand on so I'll be able to pick because they'll grow fairly tall. And we know about staking and clotheslining them. I used to have raspberry plants a long time ago, but not in a raised bed.

Knowing how husbands are its hard to say when planters will be built, on the honey do list. How long can I keep the raspberry plants in those plastic containers? Should I be caning them for the winter if they're still in the pots?

I am curious about this answer too. I have some strawberries that have grown in pots all summer (larger than the nursery pots but not huge) and I was wondering what to do with them over the winter.
