Hi i have a fully grown crabapple tree at my house and i was wondering if i could take some type of a cutting that would produce fruit within the first year and grow it into a bonsai?

Yes you can grow it from a cutting, and generally a crabapple does really well from a cutting. Before you get fruit though, your cutting will need to establish roots. You can try air layering. It is quite possible to get fruit in 1 year, but it really depends on how well it gets established.

Bonsais grow at exactly the same rate as 'normal' trees - only in miniature.
