Hello everyone.
We just installed a pull down ladder for our attic, and we see now that the cord, (not a very nice one, just a basic nylon one) is just left hanging down. Wonder if anyone had any ideas on how to hide it, make a nice knot or make it a bit more attractive, dress it up a bit, than just seeing a string hanging from the ceiling. The access to the attic is in our daughter's bedroom, she is 3 years old. and it looks a bit weird, just there. Thanks for your ideas.

Our Jacob's ladder also had the cord hanging there. For ease of grabbing it to pull the ladder down. Not too much else you can do with it or else you won't be able to get up there! You could try attaching a stuffed animal, a mobile, or some kind of charm to the end of the cord which might amuse your little girl. But I think almost anything you attach to the cord risks being torn off whenever you pull on it to access the attic.

Braided Rope, leather, or some kind of twine, with maybe feathers, beads, colors, just make it safe for the kid. Some times drawing attention to something in a unique way will actualy takes your attention away from the fact that it is there for a purpose the ladder.

I like the other suggestions of spiffing up the rope...maybe you could add a ceiling fan accessory to the end of it???? They come in a number of styles.

You could replace the cord with a decorative hook. Put a hook on the end of a broom handle to grab it with and you are ready to go. No more cord.
