I planted some herbs in my planter but misplaced the marker. I think this is basil but it is possible it could be just a weed. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks, Barbara

Yes, that is the plant Netty. I thought I posted it. I am still a little confused trying to navigate myself around. My entire first post disappeared.

That plant reminds me a lot of Soapwort. Does it have any smell?

I just went and smelled the flower. It has a very mild smell but nothing I am familiar with. I pulled a leaf off and rubbed it. It didn't have any special smell to it either. Darn it. I really hoped this was the Oregano. I did find a white blooming Oregano on line. These are Ferry-Morse seeds.

I've never seen an Oregano that looked like that Tigercat, sorry. Google Saponaria and see if you think it's a match.

i still think it might be Oregano. I googled Saponaria and i don't think that is it. I will take more pictures of it tomorrow. Maybe a better picture with help with its identification. I did find a pic similar when I googled Oregano white blooming. The only problem is I don't really smell a fragrance. But then my taste buds are messed up right now cus I am a little under the weather.

Ok, I am starting to believe ya'll are right and that this is not Oregano. I just know I did plant some Oregano seeds there...at least I think. Smile Maybe my Basil is really Oregano and not even Basil. Maybe I need supervision to grow herbs. LOL

That's definately not an oregano. Smile

Edit: Search for Evening Lychnis and see what you think.

Ok then. Is it a weed? I tried googling white blooming weeds and I still couldn't find a match. Maybe I should just pull it up and plant some more Oregano seeds.

Ah, you were too quick for me, Tigercat. I think it might be some sort of Evening Lychnis, but please check it out for yourself.

Very close. I thought at first it might be. But as I looked through the pics and I examined the flowers and leaves very closely against mine...I don't think they are the same.
